Maxwell's
BLACKsummers'night

is
HERE.

His fourth studio album and first in eight years, BLACKsummers’night is the sound of an artist taking the commitment to his craft and the conversation with his audience that much further. Needless to say, it is a conversation that’s been overdue; but as the soft-spoken, multi-platinum artist sees it, in order to come back it was necessary to step away."I didn’t intentionally step away from all of it, but I just wanted to…live my life a little bit, and then be able to make music with that pure experience again.”
"Godchild" is finally out
Joy Jones hopes that listeners of her new album will be touched by its messages and themes: “I have spent quite a bit of time thinking about what I want to say and the messages I want to put out. This is a labor of love and I hope that it translates and transforms into a tool for change. This journey to LP has largely been due to divine choreography, fabulous blessings and good folks. I am constantly amazed at the trajectory.”

If you haven't already, grab this free download -- not included on the album!

New Music!

There's so much new music now. Where is it all coming from? All I can say is keep it coming, I love it! The ones to look for are: Emanative, Scrimshire, Deborah Jordan, Spoonphace, DJ Mitsu the beats, Jaspects, Soul Movement Vol. 1, Tanya Morgan. Forthcoming projects are SA-RA Creative partners, DJ Spinna, Georgia Anne Muldrow and so much more.

Too often, we don't miss someone until they're gone. With each MJ record that I've heard in the last week, I'm reminded of his greatness. Everywhere you turn, there will be tributes. Here's one from DJ Jaycee that is certainly worthy of your attention. Check it out here.

What a voice! What a record! Here is the best soul singer you probably never heard of. Darien belts out songs from fantastic debut "If these walls could talk" at the Shrine in Harlem, NY. Check out the review and hear for yourself here.

Haven't heard of the Jaspects? Well you need to get familiar with the Atlanta based six member group that can blend funk, jazz, rock and hip-hop together effortlessly. Here they are making their New York debut at Frnak's Lounge in Brooklyn, NY. Meanwhile, you need to check out their latest release, "Polkadotted Stripe" out now.

There’s been a lot of buzz about Brittany Bosco, and for good reason. The girl has a lot of talent and her ep “Spectrum” is fire. Brittany weaves from experimental funk, blues and jazz with relative ease. Check out the video “Blues for Blue” and “Black and White”. Also, check my review of “Spectrum” as well. I must add that the packaging for “Spectrum” is very stylish and first rate.
