Brownswood Bubblers 2
World renowned DJ Gilles Peterson returns with his second installment of Brownswood Bubblers. Brownswood is the name of his new record company and studio. While Bubblers One was indeed satisfying, Bubblers Two is simply an excellent collection of some of the hottest soul, folk and jazz music you'll hear this year. Among the many highlights is "Watch Out" by Tawiah. Ms. Tawiah has been creating quite a buzz over in the UK recently and it is easy to see why. This is a really wonderful track with a slow groove and a sweet voice to match. "Flow", by Sotu the Traveler feat. Maya Azucena has a soft soulful sound that compliments Maya's lovely voice. Sotu is a producer from the Netherlands and Maya is from Brooklyn NY. Together they create an awesome sound. "Go With Love" by RAHJ feat. Taylor McFerrin & Brockett Parsons is an acoustic gem that sounds better each time I play it. Marcina Arnold has a very nice cd of own out right now. Unfortunately the song "Forefathers" isn't on it. It's featured here and lucky for us. This is an exceptional slice of acoustic soul riding over a bossa nova beat. Marcina's warm soulful voice adds the finishing touch. There are so many killer tunes here that you would have to be without a pulse to enjoy it. This is what I call a real compilation. Obscure songs that stand on their own but assembled into one package is truly a great treat for the serious music lover. With Brownswood Bubblers Two, Gilles hits a home run. Don't miss out on this one.
