First thing we did was cop the new Zap Mama record "Recreation". Then we sat down with her for an interview about the new record and among other things, the new President. Man! I'm so hyped! Zap Mama drops her new cd, "Recreation" on May 26th. In addition, she will be appearing at Joe's Pub in NYC for three nights, May 27th thru May 29th. One of the hottest parties on a Thursday night is Libation at the Sullivan Room in NYC, hosted by Manchildblack and DJ Ian Friday. If the soulful sounds of Ian Friday weren't enough, a special appearance by Kindred was the icing on the cake. It doesn't stop there, Thursday May 28th features a guest appearance by ultra talented producer Osunlade.

Joy Jones is the master of Afro-beat lullabies, future jazz/soul, protest songs and electronic hymns. Expect all this and more on Godchild, set to drop June 9th with Daz-I-Kue of Bugz In The Attic co-producing much of the album, lending his brand of soulful broken beat.

Allow me to take this moment to say Happy Birthday to all my fellow Taureans out there! Maya Azucena starts off her Birthday night by kicking off the first Friday monthly series in The Greene Space. She will be performing with strings so this will definitely be a treat to see. Afterwards it's on to the Canal Room for the after party.

One of the most beautiful voices around that you may not be familiar with. Debra Jordan first came to our attention when she performed with the group Silhouette Brown. She has gone on to perform with a wealth of talented artists like Robert Mitchell, Replife, and Emanative. Finally, we can look forward to her debut album on Futuristica Records. I don't have a release date at this time but the lead single "Home" is available now. I can't wait to get my hands on this.
