Marcel & The Truth - Hopes Too HighI'm stunned! Stunned
that such an awesome disc like this one could slide under the radar
during the latter stages of 2006. Baltimore based Marcel & the
Truth deliver an album deeply rooted in classic soul and combines fine
lead vocals and great harmonizing. Especially on the sizzling "Maybe
I'm Not the Man", a track that may evoke memories of the Dramatics "In
the rain". Marcel's singing will stir your soul and command your
attention as he explains to his girl that it's time to move on since
they can't work it out. The tune "They Don't Know" is also impressive.
Gerald Richardson lays down the groove with his tight bass playing.
Marcel allows the song to simmer while before taking it to another
level. "Time Stops" is another awesome track that combines tight
musical arrangements and flawless background singing. Marcel, whose
voice has a little Donny Hathaway in it, sounds like he's been on the
scene for years. Do yourself a favor and check out Marcel & The
Truth. Hopefully they'll be around for years to come.
